Slip Cover

Remember? A few weeks ago I went to the garment district in LA and purchased some fabrics? http://suziescottage.blogspot.com/2009/04/los-angeles-garment-district.html
Here are the slip covers I said I was going to make with the fabric I bought. WOW! Making the slip cover was a challenge! Sewing was the least difficult part, but to make it fit to the chair was my biggest headache even though these are armless chairs! Well, as you see the photo, it's not the most greatest fit slip cover, but I'm okay with it! It will work for me for now...

Dining Chair Make Over

Okay, here we go again! After a couple of primer, a few coats of spray paint, and a new cushion fabric, it will be proudly served for my dining chairs! Now I need to go hunt for a dining table. I wish my luck doesn't run out at Goodwill or Salvation Army!!!! ^___^

Bacon Sloppy Joes

Thank You, Donna!!

http://mytastytreasures.blogspot.com/2009/04/bacon-sloppy-joes-and-macaroni-salad.html

A few days ago, I finally found a cook blog I've been searching for ever since I started blogging. It is : http://mytastytreasures.blogspot.com/2009/04/bacon-sloppy-joes-and-macaroni-salad.html. As much as I enjoy decorating, I love to cook and I am very interested to learn many different recipes as well. I fell in love with Donna's blog immediately, because I love the way she posts step by step photos and her recipes and her cooking directions are so real and honest. It reminds me of mom's home made meals! In addition, I love her sense of humor!! The whole time I was reading her blog, I couldn't stop laughing. She is great!
Tonight I followed her cooking recipe and made a Bacon Sloppy Joes for a dinner and my kids loved it!! A busy mother who works a full time job needs a quick meal like this one!!
Please visit Donna's blog even if you are not a cook person her sense of humor will not disappoint you. Thank you, Donna!! I love your blog and I am so glad I found you!!!!

The Los Angeles Garment District

My friend Daisy and I went to the LA Garment District http://www.fashiondistrict.org/ for fabric shopping yesterday.

As I expected, it was packed with people. I work just a few blocks from the LA Garment district so I often go there for a quick shopping during my lunch hours on weekdays, but it wasn't as crowded as it is on weekends. One of my cousin owns a whole sale jewelry and accessories business in there, but I got so tired of walking I didn't even stop by their store.

It was so crowded that we would get separated from each other. Hey, Daisy!! I'm here!!!!

You know how Toile fabric is expensive at retail stores, at garment district, you could get it around $5.00 per yard and if you buy more than 10 yards, you'll even get a discount!

Because the time was so limited, we only went into a few fabric stores even though there were more than 10 blocks of fabric district.

I'm going to bring my daughter here for her middle school graduation dress this year.

Although I am not so crazy about perfumes, I was so fascinated by the blocks of whole sale perfume district. Literally any brand name you want would be found here and you would've paid fortunes at department stores.
In additions to fabrics, I bought a few other things.
The small nick knacks like these angels are usually sold by a dozen. I bought them for a dollar a piece.

These are the fabrics I bought for my dining room cushions, pillows, and slip covers for these 2 old chairs. For the wholesale prices I paid for each item, and all the fun we had, it was well worth the long walks and the drive there on the weekend.
